NAV subscription about to expire

Hi:

My subscription to Norton AV 2005 will expire Dec 24 (a convenient day I
suppose), and I wonder if I should replace it with Kaspersky. This version
of NAV is said to be much easier to eliminate.

From reading posts here, I get the impression that Kaspersky doesn't use as
many resources yet it manages to find more bad things than NAV. If my
impression is correct, then Kaspersky must replace NAV.

So, should I replace NAV with Kaspersky or not?

You are the best person to answer that question. Kaspersky has a 30-day
trial period. So trial it.

Yes,as soon as possible.You should do a general cleaning also. And
don't forget to backup important files onto removable media before
removing NAV.

Jim,

In order to switch or even evaluate another AV, you MUST completely
remove NAV. Some info about removing AV apps (particularly NAV):

And so, before you install ANY AV application, make sure that you
acquire all information/tools/utilities that are necessary for its
COMPLETE removal.

Yes, definitely.
(But look for Kaspersky 5.0 - the older version 4.5 not being easy to
handle.)

Also check out NOD32. I replaced NAV with it over a year ago and I've
been really pleased with the results.

If price is the issue, might keep an eye on NewEgg.com.

As of this moment, they have NAV 2006 OEM for under $25 including s/h
to USA 48.

Some times you are better off getting a new license of NAV than you are
paying for another year of pattern files.
