Renew that subscription or...

I have a subscription to Norton av that just ran out. On the day it ran out,
it
notified me that I have a virus, after going all year without getting any. The
computer doesn't show any ill effects, and my updated spyware zappers
aren't showing anything at all. Could it be a ploy to make sure people
renew their subscriptions? The only thing wrong with my theory is that
Norton says it can't remove this trojan. If it were "fake," you'd think they
would "heroically" remove it.

Why not download an evaluation version of NOD32 which is fully
functioning for 30 days to see what that yields?

Of course, you'll end up buying it, so I'd scrap Norton anyway.

Get the 1-year free trial version of CA's EzAntivirus at
http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft (or from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/partnerpack/). Or try using one of the
various online AV scanners (they won't fix anything but they'll tell you
if they detect a virus to verify you actually have one).
