subscription renewal

I renewed my subscription for norton Antivirus. But I
didn't renew the subscription for norton personel fire
wall 2003 because I'm having problems. When I use
liveupdate for norton Antivirus 2003. At the end when
everything is dowloaded and installed it says:

"All of the Symantec products installed on your computer
are currently up-to-date."

I have norton personel firewall 2003. That's from
Symantec right? I'm confused with the "ALL". I didn't
renew my firewall subscrition. Why does it say "ALL"?

Nope. Just removed NIS from my sisters computer.

Firewalls don't need subscription. Is it another feature?

To add $$$ to the Symantec bank accounts, why else? Get rid of NAV
and the Symantec firewall. Too many good free alternatives available.

I agree. It was subscription renewal time for my sis. So I killed NAV and put on AVG (free www.grisoft.com). I left Norton's firewall going because the kids like things to play with. But the XP firewall is perfectly ok (but no dialogs so you don't get any toys to click - it just works).

For most people nortons work fine. But a large number of people have problems with it. Nortons always attempts to delve deeper into the system than XP was designed for. This causes problems for some. It also slows computers down significantly with extra pointless features (though if you turn them off it runs ok)

Note the above is true for most of Norton's competitors as well.

Ask Symantec, as they make the product. This group is for the XP OS,
not Symantec products. Bye bye now!

I did send ans e-mail to symmantec and ask another
question. And 5 days later I get a response and part of
it says they are having lots of e-mails that's why it
took a long time for me to get an answer. But I need an
answer fast.

Can someone here please tell me why I need to renew the
firewall subsciption please? Knowone here has norton
personel firewall???

I disabled norton firewall and enabled my xp firewall. Is
that all I need to do? I'm protected again now?

Nope. Window's firewall prtects against incoming only--not outgoing from
anything already installed.

Go to Zonelabs.com and dl the free version of ZoneAlarm. Many of us use it
and are pleased with it.

You had this program for at least a year and you still know nothing about it?
