Is the update loop here to stay? (Update KB915597)

I managed to update the spyware definitons to 1.13.1276.16 by removing the
previous definitions using the Windows Install Clean Up. I was hoping that
Windows Defender will be able to update without getting into the vexing
update loop. No such luck! Automatic Updates keeps prompting me for
Update KB915597 (Update 1.13.1282.6).

A natural question arises as to whether the update loop is here to stay
because Automatic Updates says as follows:

Install this update to revise the definition files used to detect
spyware and
other potentially unwanted software. Once you have installed this item,
it
cannot be removed.

If the update loop is here to stay how the hell will the users be able to
update
their signatures for the next update?

I managed to update to 1.13.1286.1 and when I try to ger 1.14.1288.5 it works
ok according to win update but next time I reeboot it wants to dowload it
again! This also happens if I try to update from defendef itself. Defender
states it is still at the previous sig. Watching this thread in hope of a
solution
