Install error saying "Press any key to boot from CD...Error Loading Operating System

Purchased a new PC with no operating system on it. Purchased Windows XP Home edition. Inserted CD, startup commenced...when the install calls for the system to reboot itself, I get Press any key to boot from CD...Error Loading Operating System. Pressing keys does not cause activity of any sort.

After the Windows XP setup reboots the first time, do not press
"any key" again. XP's setup will boot to the CD by itself.

Thank you for the support thus far...the original install attempt took me through a partitioning step. Do I want to delete the partition before continuing with the setup again?
