instalation problems

the other day i recieved a virus through msn messenger, which stopped a lot
of things working. the programme installed was xp home but i have just
installed xp pro, however if i open the new messenger and move the box
accross the screen, it moves slow and kind of ripples. do i need to install a
driver and can it be downloaded whever i need?????

my specs r:
amd athlon 64 processor
3400+
2.19 ghz
960 mb ram

plz any help or guidence would be appreciated.

Check that you have the correct video drivers installed as a first measure..

hi there 2phew someone answered me@, i'm not that good with computers, is
there any chance u can explain to me how i check and what should be the

Go to this website..

Download Everest Home version.. it's free..

Run it and go to the Display section.. click on the little cross and then
select GPU from the list that opens up.. the data to the right will tell you
what video card is in your system.. if you look at the bottom of the list,
you will notice that Everest thoughtfully includes links to the video card
manufacturer, from which you can obtain and load the latest drivers..

mike i would like to thank you for your time with helping me, my computer is
speeding up slowly n not dragging, i have to get the sound driver next i
think coz i have no sound

hi mike its kevin i messaged u a short while ago, my sound driver download
needs to be for ati sb400 - ac'97 audio controller but i cannot find the
download, can u plz help?????

Open Everest again, and check to see what motherboard is installed.. I
believe that the sound part is integrated into the motherboard.. use the
'Product Information' link at the bottom of that section to get you to the
manufacturer website..

Once there, look for a 'Technical Support' or 'download' heading, where you
should find a subheading for drivers.. most likely there will be four types
covering IDE, LAN, Sound, and Modem..
