Error when installing SP2

When installing windows xp SP2 the setup wizard crashes while performing
"Finishing Installation/Perfoming Cleanup" operation. From what I have found
while searching the internet, is that the problem has do to with the
processor that I have (AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3400+, ~2.2GH). From most
web posts I have found people with the AMD 64 processor say SP2 will not
install on there machines. My first question is; if thats true how dow I
successfully instal SP2 onto my PC, and if thats not the problem what is and
how do I fix it?

it seems to reason that if it
is a common issue found with
your amd, then it has likely been
addressed by the cpu maker and
posted on their website. you should
check with them for a patch, update
and or faq.

something to keep in mind is that you
have 2 free support tickets directly
from a microsoft certified technician, that
is if you have not used them yet. but my
guess is that your cpu needs an update
from the amd people...
