Input Language

I recently added a new input language (Brazilian Portuguese) to my computer,
which is running Windows XP. Everything seems to be working fine, e.g. I'm
easily able to toggle back and forth between English and Brazilian Portuguese
when using Word, except in Outlook. Even when English is selected as the
active language for my keyboard, it seems to swap back to Portuguese when I
attempt to compose a new mail message in Outlook. This means that every time
I compose a new mail message I need to open my language bar and toggle back
to English, which is a pain when you're sending hundreds of e-mails per day.

Any idea why this is happening and how it can be fixed? Much thanks!

On my machine the default language is used automatically for every
application I launch and also for every process within an application, e.g.
a new mail in Outlook. Perhaps reposting your question in an Outlook
newsgroup might shed some light on this issue.

You don't need to open your language bar to swap languages. Using Alt+Shift
or Ctrl+Shift would much faster.
