Sorry if this has been asked before. I have a Portuguese version of windows
xp home that came installed on my laptop for the past 2 years. I really hate
the translation of it, a lot of times things are really poorly translated or
just apear in brazilian which is even worse. I don't know if I can use a
Windows Home English CD from a friend and install it on this pc and use this
pc serial, dunno if it's language locked, I hope not. I really just want to
have it in english.

Have you thought about Multi lingual user interface (MUI) you can get these
cds from Microsoft (dont know if you pay) but there you can instal the
english language, instead of getting an english Windows XP cd
