Using Office 97 in Portuguese with Windows XP in English.

I have a copy of Office 97 I purchased in Brazil (in Portuguese) to use in an
old computer which no longer works. Now I have a new laptop with Windows XP
in English, purchased in the US. As I work as a translator and need to
spell-check texts written in both Portuguese and English, I was wondering if
I could install Office 97 in Portuguese (which checks spelling in Portuguese,
English and Spanish) with my Windows XP (English version). Thanks a lot.

Bear in mind that I've never done this, or anything like it, so take what I
say with a grain of salt. But I don't see why not.

Why not try it? If it doesn't work, you'll find out quickly enough, and can
always uninstall it.

I have recently did this and now I am having problems uninstalling this
program from my computer. When program was installed, it only installed Word
& Excel. But not that i dont want office 97 on my computer,(found it was
making it running slower) I cant seem to uninstall it. The error message that
came up was "The Setup configuration file
'C:\PROGA~1\MICROS~3\SETUP\Off97Pro.STF' is missing or corrupted.
What can I do to fix this or just remove progam?
Anybody with any suggestions?

Having a program installed on your computer can not make anything slower.
*Running* a program can slow other things down, but not just having it
installed. Your performance problem lies elsewhere.

You might try reinstalling it, then uninstalling it.

I've actually tried to reinstall this program, but it says its missing a
file, i cant reinstall. when i try again today, i will post the error message
it told me.
