All new mail is showing up in unread messages but no new mail is showing up
in the inbox listing since 7/10/07

Sounds like you should examine the View settings you applied to your Inbox.

I am also experiencing the same problem with Outlook 2007 where the unread
message count is going up but the messages aren't showing up in the Inbox
(and I have found that others are experiencing this problem as well).

The only thing that I have found so far (by accident) is:

When you click away from the Inbox to another folder and then back to the
Inbox the messages will show up in the Inbox.

Any help would be appreciated in getting this problem resolved.

I'm having the exact same problem, but switching out of the Inbox and back
again does not help. It only seems to happen on certain accounts, but I
haven't narrowed that done yet.

I've also checked VIEW as suggested, but there's nothing there that would
cause this.

I can drag emails from Unread into other folders, but not the InBox, where
they vanish.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with Kaspersky Anti-Virus, which I
installed about a month ago -- though the problem is much more recent.

Any help, thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone had a update on this problem. I have Outlook 2007, and messages
will arrive to the inbox, but not show. I have to change the focus to
another folder and then back to the inbox. At that point, it will show. I
have checked all the settings and even went back to the defautl. The problem
continues.

Exchange server acct? This is usually caused by a nat router or firewall
blocking the packets.

No, we are no longer exchange. The issue is not that the mail did not
arrive, the issue is that it is not showing in the "Inbox," just like
mentioned in the beginning of this thread. My Inbox will be empty, but next
to the "Unread Mail" folder it will show (3). In order to get the mail to
show, I have to click any subfolder and then click on Inbox. At that point,
I will be able to see the three new messages in the Inbox.

This was not an issue until we upgraded to 2007, and I think it started
right away. It just took a while to figure out what was going on.

Thanks.

Sorry for the blank post.

I have been having the same problem for the last week with Outlook 2003.
Some of my incoming messages go to "Unread Mail" but don't show in the inbox.
Worse, if I open them in "Unread Mail" and then close them again they
disappear completely (they don't go either to Inbox or to Deleted Items).

Help!

But what folder does "Unread Mail" show they're in?

The won't "go" anywhere. The Unread Mail folder in not a real folder. It
is a search context that shows you messages marked as unread, no matter what
folder reall holds them. As soon and you read them, they're read, so they
won't appear in that folder. But they'll still be in the folder where they
were originally. They haven't moved.

Brian:

It shows they are in the Inbox, and the new messages are in the Inbox.
However, they are not initially listed in the Inbox. We just have to
remember to change the focus to any other folder and then back to the Inbox.
After the refocus, they will show both in the Inbox and Unread Email.

What type of account are you using?

POP/SMTP, as we always have. This is a issue we noticed after upgrading to
Outlook 2007 on some of our PCs. We have not seen it on the Outlook 2003
PCs. However, I have noticed other posts are claiming the same problem in
Outlook 2003 - and it seems to have appeared around the same time.

Thanks,
Jon

While I've seen mention of this problem in Outlook 2007 POP accounts, I
don't recall any posts about it with OL 2003 and in the vast majority of the
cases, it's for Exchange accounts. I think I'd start with a new mail
profile.

I read somewhere else that the "Google Toolbar" add in may be the problem...I
deselected and now it works. I don't get it...maybe it is catching it and
slowing it down?

Well my fix was only temporary...back to the same old problem. This is very
aggrevating...help!

I am experiencing the same problem but it seems I have found a way to view the messages. (if you have access to an Exchange server)

I am also connected to an Exchange server but prefer to “work off line” instead of connecting but the POP account actually works when you are in connected mode towards the Exchange account.

Also, messages you previously downloaded (that did not show up) show up after restarting outlook in connected mode.

I am pretty sure messages would also show up if you open the file with outlook 2003

I would like the bug fix ASAP or if somebody have another workaround....

I am having the a similar issue. new mail arrives, the inbox in the folder
list shows new mail Inbox(5) as well as the Unread(5) but i have to click out
of the inbox and back in to view the new mail? what gives here? It seems
lots of folks have the same issue but no resolution. This started after
upgrading from Outllok 2003 to 2007.

I am running:

I'm having the same issue - suddenly after working fine for months. The only
thing I downloaded recently was Google Desktop Search. Anybody with this
problem also use that?

I have Outlook 2007 and Vista Ultimate. There has to be a solution for this!
