Iexplore.exe is missing - does not help to reinstall IE 6

Hi,

Have one problem with Windows Millennium and Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1
and Iexplore.exe - this exe file is missing now.

Tried to reinstall IE 6 SP 1 and it worked but the Iexplore.exe is
still missing in Internet Explorer folder (and is not anywhere on the
disk).

The path in Internet Explorer icon/shortcut (in Start - Program -
Internet Explorer) is now

C:\Program files\Internet Explorer\DW15.EXE

It is supposed to be C:\Program files\Internet Explorer\Iexplore.exe

Any suggestion what to try?

Latest Norton Antivirus definitions are installed (Aug 11 2003).

Thanks for any suggestions!

The file DW15.exe is a Microsoft file for error reporting. I tried a Google
search for it and came back with a number of people reporting the same
problems on WIN2000 installations where access rights to the Windows Temp
folder caused the installation process to incompletely copy all of the
required files.

I'm just guessing, but try checking your access rights to the temp folder
and correct it if needed, and then re-run the IE5 setup again (hopefully you
will have IE6Setup.exe in your Program Files\Internet Explorer folder).

I think the quickest way to test is to type IExplore in your Run dialog. You
will probably have to manually change your links to point to IExplore.exe
i/o dw15.exe.

Hi,
Thanks Rob.
Problem solved. I did a complete reinstall of IE 6 and that fixed the
problem, just a a repair did not help.
