IE6 still works, but iexplore.exe is gone from Program Files folde

I use IE6 (version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_grd.070227-2254). I noticed
recently that both my desktop shortcut and taskbar shortcut to Internet
Explorer had disappeared. I went to recreate them and discovered that there
is no more iexplore.exe in my Program Files under Internet Explorer!

I'm still able to use IE6 by going into one of my bookmarked sites, and have
added a shortcut to the Google homepage on my taskbar as a temporary fix, but
I'd like to be able to get my iexplore.exe back.

I've run McAfee VirusScan and Spyware Doctor and haven't found any viruses
or spyware, and I have no idea what the problem (or solution) is.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

Maggie

Hi,
Attempts to uninstall IE6 from XP [usually] simply remove access to IE- the
symptoms you've described.

Go to Control Panel> Add or remove programs> Add/remove Windows components>
put a check by IE. OK your way out. Restart.

You may also have to go into "Set program access & defaults" and make
choices regarding "Default" and "Enable access."

You may also have to go into Display properties> Desktop> Customize to check
IE under Desktop icons.

Hope this helps,
Don

Thanks so much, Don - that did the trick! I must have accidentally unchecked
IE when I ran a cleanup app recently.

I really appreciate your help!
