Cannot close IE6 SP2 on a WinXP machine

When I attempt to close the Internet Explorer window, the screen changes to
"about:blank" and the program freezes. When I right-click IE on the taskbar
and select close, a box pops up telling me that IE is a non-responsive
program. This problem started yesterday (Tuesday) evening,

I ran a McAfee Virus Scan on my machine, also ran Ad-Aware and SpyBot. All
said my system was clean.

Any suggestions out there? Thanks in advance.
