IE Security Settings not retained

My client needs to run an application that uses a Crystal Reports ActiveX
control. The control is being blocked. The user gets the red "X" in a box
when they try to run it. They logged on as an Administrator and changed the
security settings in the Internet Zone - Custom Level to enable ActiveX
controls. It still doesn't work. When they go back into the Internet
Settings, the changes weren't retained.

Hi CK,

That the security settings for ActiveX are not being retained indicates that
it is either a BHO (most likely) or a Group Policy setting that is reverting
the settings as IE is started.

To test if it is a BHO uncheck the 'Enable Third-Party Browser Extensions'
option on the Advanced tab of Internet Options (as well as enabling ActiveX)
and restart your browser.

Regards.

Windows version?

What anti-malware tools are installed (e.g., Spybot, Ad-watch, Spysweeper)?

What anti-virus application & version (e.g., NAV 2005, VirusScan 9.x)?
