ActiveX Internet Error Message

I'm gettign the following message consistantly when browsing to certain
pages, and Windows Update is failing saying it can't load some files,
which I'm assuming are also ActiveX components.

Error message: "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX
controls on this page"

I've set the Internet level and Local Intranet level properly, along
with making sure my registry keys for the zones are set properly, yet I
still get this error. I've reinstalled IE to no avail.

Any ideas?

I have been getting the same message. It also comes up when I try to
use the Control Panel. Related: My security level defaults to "high",
and nothing I do can lower that setting. I lower the setting but it
instantly reverts to "high." I am at a loss to figure out why. I am
running 2000 and I am the administrator of my home computer, but being
the administrator doesn't seem to allow me to change settings. Any
ideas?

Give us an example of "certain pages"?

I know it happened when I browsed to certain parts of Microsoft.com and
definitely when I went to NHL.com

And like I said, the MS updates page fails to load erroneously exiting
with what I assume is the same problem.
