IE no work with networked AOL DSL

I have Win XP and a wireless network installed with AOL
DSL. Since installing the network, I cannot get the IE
browser to work: keep getting "the page cannot be
displayed" message. Found the MS Knowledge Base article
regarding this for other versions of Windows, XP not
mentioned. It says to remove all network components and
then update the Winsock2 registry key and the TCP/IP stack
after ugrading. Is this the same procedure for XP?
