IE 6 (SP2) is very slow

I have IE6 ibstalled on an AMD 1600+ processor. OS= XP home (SP2)

Page loading times are very slow ~ 2400 Baud modem.

I have DSL connection.

Firefox and Netscape both load at speeds X20.

Any ideas where I should look to improve the speed of IE6>

Thanks for your help;

Regretably, this problem has not been solved by any of the suggestions on
the above mentioned site. Spyware searches show no interference. The IE6 is
still very slow to load pages from the net.

The problem is not in the connection as Both Netscape and Firefox load pages
significantly faster (even on Microsoft sites).

My computer is set somehow not to install any operating system, so I
hesitate to try an OS reinstall.

Any other suggestions? please as there are some sites that require the IE
processes to perform any online functions.

Thanks again;

Pat, try running this parameter to repair IE without doing a repair installation.

I tried running the sugested parameter
iexplore /rereg

But it has made no difference.

I also have a problem, when I click on the my computer icon, a flash light
icon shows and starts searching something,. It takes over 10 minutes before
the windows explorer shows up with the C: and D: drive. I have already tried
one of the suggetion which is to disable service "Windows Image Acquisition
WIA" but it has made no difference.

Could the issue with the IE being slow and the Windows explorer are the
related,
BTW, I have tried all the spyware and ad-ware fixing tools.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks
