IE 6 freezes after opening a pdf document

IE 6 (version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2) on Windows XP Pro freezes (and locks up
the whole PC) for several minutes after displaying a PDF page (with Acrobat)
and attempting to change the web page either by the Back button or typing a
different URL. Note that I am not using Acrobat Reader, but a legally
licensed Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard. This is very frustrating. Tx for any
help you can give

Personally, I use the option that tells Adobe NOT to display the file within
the browser. This spawns a window specifically for Adobe, leaving the
browser alone. You might give it a try.

Thanks Donny, I found the same suggestion on the Adobe support web site. It
works, because it avoids the problem, but it does not actually fix it. But
that's OK, anything not to get stuck every time I open a PDF page. I guess I
was also curious to see if anyone else had seen the same behavior.

Ciao

Thanks for the tip. This has been irritating me for a LONG time. I tried
reloading my Adobe 6 standard a couple times and it was no help.
Is the deep rooted problem due to IE6? I downloaded IE7 beta and PDF files
freeze there too.
Bless us and save Mrs. Davis . . . :----)
