icon won't go away

Seems like when I'm on line via explorer, an unknown
Icon is placed on my desk top. The Icon won't open. It
just looks like a plain windows Icon with a side ways
stretched out S What could this be? I trash it each
time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

It's called the tilde (~), and it's the result of a recent windows update
that has a glitch. It's actually a copy of your address book, and reappears
each time you open it. It is safe to delete, and is a known issue. Microsoft
is aware of the problem, but no fix has come out yet. In the meantime, it is
harmless.
