mystery icon desktop

Seems like when I'm on line via explorer, an unknown
Icon is placed on my desk top. The Icon won't open. It
just looks like a plain windows Icon with a side ways
stretched out S What could this be? I trash it each
time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Tom, that's a Tilde which you can see on the Keyboard next to number 1.
It's caused by a recent windows update
involving Outlook and IE. Just continue deleting them until MS comes up
with a fix.
