Dan

I have three HP software icons in the printers area that are in the process
of deleting, but the printer icons do not disappear. I made a mistake by
trying to uninstall and reinstall the HP software 3 times. I have Windows
XP Pro. and an HPdeskjet 3820. The new driver works fine in 98SE but XP
cannot handle the new driver. I want to go back to when I did not have any
instances of these drivers. It is too late to do a system restore. Can
someone please help me. Thanks in advance. BTW, since my printer is no
longer in warranty HP wanted $40 to troubleshoot it -- heck I can buy a new
cheap HP deskjet for that price and I think HP's support costs even more the
Microsoft support.

What happens when you reboot? Have you tried uninstalling from safemode?

Yes, you can buy a new printer but you may spend days trying to install the
driver therefore the $40 could be well spent.

Thanks, MVP's -- old printer version installed and printer works in XP but
only with old driver as opposed to 98SE which supports the new driver fine.
You learn something new everyday! <smile> <PS Ross Durie -- this is an
example of saving some money by going to the expert MVP's> :> I even
modified my boot.ini so that it say Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
rather than Microsoft Windows. I like to be able to show what version of
Windows that I am running. LOL

I said "could" be well spent. I do admit I wonder how ISPs (New Zealand only
experience so my view of the World could be distorted) manage to employ the
clueless people they do.
