I am not able to login to my Windows Visa machine using Remote Desktop
it shows the network connection as local how to change this settings

Hi Jack,

There's nothing wrong with the connection showing as local. It simply means
that it is connected to the local network (which may be a router, switch, or
other hub). Failure to be able to use Remote Desktop usually can be traced
to:

a) Failure to properlyset connection privileges. If you are connecting to
Vista from another version of Windows, or from outside the local net, then
the connection should be set to accept from all versions, and that your user
account is properly added to the list.

b) Failure to set up port forwarding in a home router so that signals sent
from the outside world can reach your machine.

c) Firewall not set to allow remote desktop connections.
