Hung when trying manual update

Beta1 hung when I tried File->Check for updates... a little
while ago. The animation kept going for a long time
without any updates found, and the Close button was grayed
out during this time. I had to end the task with Task
Manager and reopen the program.

I tried to repeat this after reoping the program, and found
that it did not hang that time. Manually updating in this
manner usually works fine, so this may not be a repeatable
glitch.
