Freeze During Update--Needs Re-install

Dan

I don't know if this problem has been documented yet, but
numerous times I have tried to manually update the
spyware definitions, and after the new definitions are
downloaded, the program freezes up at the "Searching for
software updates" dialogue. Because there's no "Cancel"
button, I am forced to close the program using Task
Manager.

When I try to reopen AntiSpyware after the freeze, it
freezes up at the "Loading AntiSpyware" screen. I tried
re-starting Windows, but the same problem occurs.

The only way I was successful at getting AntiSpyware to
re-open after that was uninstalling the software and then
re-installing it.

Besides fixing whatever is causing this problem, I think
it would be beneficial to have a "Cancel" button on
the "Check for updates" screen.

I have experienced the freeze up also during updating, I just leave it for a
little and it goes back to normal. The same with loading, it takes 10 -
15mins on my system, its the first application I run and just leave and go
make some coffee.

You can always try the Update install for this or uninstall and reinstall:
You can repair Windows AntiSpyware using Add or Remove Programs in Control
Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and click Change. Click Next, and then
click Update.
