In update, MS just tried to download 5 files without
asking where I want them put. I may have to reinstall XP
(another post), and I don't want to have to download a
second time (I am dial up).

The other post- I just survived a hijacking involving 5
files which I ID'd and killed. Now my computer boots
normally but SAFE mode hangs. This will be posted
separately.

Hi,

Updates will download to a WUTemp folder, this behavior cannot be changed.
These are generally deleted after installation (another behavior you can't
change). If you want to save updates for later use, download them by using
the catalog option on the update site. If you don't see it in the left
column, click personalize and add it.

Thanks Rick. I just deleted a WUTemp file that was
empty. :>) Now that I know what its for, I can copy the
files to another folder before I let them install. very
useful info.
