How to get rid of "previous installation pending and requires rebo

I have a "buggy" Internet Explorer 6 on my hands (running W2K) and cannot
install any IE service packs or even reinstall IE because every time I try I
get the message about a previous installation pending that requires a reboot.
Rebooting doesn't get rid of the message. How can I proceed to work on
this??

Thanks

Hi Monica,
You may need to Scan for Malware/Grayware on your computer before trying ti
uninstall IE.
If you do not have Anti-spyware and AV go here:
http://www.download.com (for Spybot SD or HIJThis)
http://www.avast.com/
http://www.lavasoftusa.com
http://www.nasstec.co.uk/tools.html
If all of these didn't fix.
Try to uninstall from Add/Remove Programs by going to Control Panels and
Select Add/Remove Programs and Locate IE and do Repair.
Hope this helps
nass
