How does this work?

John

Hi everyone, I'm brand new to all of this, was sent
Frontpage 2002 as a thank you for buying something else.
I desperately have to launch a website. I have hosting
but have already spent 2 hours on this software and
haven't been able to produce anything apart from a temper.

Does anyone know of a how to article that understands the
fact that some people have never done anything like this
before. Frontpage help is totally useless and should be
renamed hindrance because it's always in the way when
you're trying to look at the buttons it recommends and
then vanishes as soon as you try to do any of it's
suggestions. How stupid!

Many thanks in advance and best regards
John

PS I am completely broke (before you suggest buying books
and getting others to build it) and only want a very
simple site.

Yes, Bill Gates just does not know what he is doing or how to make money.
I forgot, which one of you is stupid?

If Bill Gates did not know what he is doing then he would
not be a multi-millionaire.

Furthermore, the Operating System you use is Microsoft,
the site you posted to is Microsoft and the FrontPage
software you are using is made by Microsoft. Maybe your
ISP uses Microsoft server, so there you go.

There is no need to frustrate yourself over Microsoft - do
some google searches on "How to use FrontPage" and you
will get some pointers.

The help files have a lot of information on how to create webs and web
pages. If you are having difficulty understanding this, why not Google for
"FrontPage Tutorials"? Or, purchase some FrontPage books. There are two
that I particularly recommend: Special Edition: Using Microsoft Office
FrontPage 2003 by Paul Colligan and Jim Chesire. And, Microsoft Office
FrontPage 2003 Inside Out by Jim Buyens.

If someone gave you Visual Studio.Net, would you expect to be able to write
a program with it? FrontPage is a web development toolkit, just as Visual
Studio is an application development toolkit. It doesn't include help that
teaches you how the Internet, HTML, or HTTP works, any more than Visual
Studio includes help that teaches you how to program. It includes help that
teaches you how to use the software to develop your web sites and web
applications. There are any number of books out there about FrontPage that
include the sort of background information you need to get started.

If you can't say anything nice - don't.

This had nothing to do with either of the reasons that
informed your surprising insult. I was referring to the
effectiveness of the user interfaces.

Thanks for the tips Tom.

I started with FP 98, and the manual had a nice little tutorial that showed
me what I needed to know to get started. I noticed that FP 2000 had
something similar. I don't know about 2002 because I went directly from 2000
to 2003, but I would think there might be something on the Microsoft site.
In fact, a quick search brought me to the following:
http://office.microsoft.com/training/training.aspx?AssetID=RC011140711033&CTT=98
If that link does not work, open help in FP, and go to Microsoft online.
there you will see a link to an audio course in FP and web design.
