You need to configure your network card with information specific to your
home network

This can be done from the Network Connections folder

Right click the Network adapter > Properties

Highlight the protocol your network uses ( TCP/IP ) or install the
protocol

click properties

Give the logical address for the connection ( 192.1683.79.1 for
example ) and a subnet mask ( 255.255.255.0 )
These will need to be within the range of your network you
already have running

Optionally, give the DNS and WINs information for the connection.

By default, everything is provided via DHCP, but this requires a DHCP
server on the network, else you will get an APIPA address ( Automatic
Private IP Addressing 169.254.X.X )
