Home Win XP cannot shut down

Appreciate any advice, why my win-xp (home) cannot shut down for no apparent
reason.

It hangs at SAVING the .... after clicked on the TURN OFF button.
 
Hi,

Upgraded to SP2, changed Video, Sound drivers, Disable Asian Text, Welcome
screen unchecked, yet PC hangs at SAVING THE SETTING.........when shutting
down -- so cannot reboot & RESTORE SYSTEM to earlier setting. Any help?
