Home to Pro Upgrade halts and now PC inaccessible

I needed XP Pro on the PC that I use to work from home. My employer bought
the software & I did all the memory checks, bios changes, compatibitity
checks, and data back-up, yada yada....
Despite all precautions, set-up reaches the point where it is installing
drivers and has 34 minutes to go when it goes silent for a moment and then
barfs up a blue screen splattered with BAD_POOL_CALLER STOP 0X000000C2
(0X00000007, 0X00000CD4, 0X0340045,0XE4FC838C)
I am unable to access my PC with anything but a hammer (and I've avoided
that so far). Can anybody rescue me?
Thanks!

Pull the Network card (or disable the jumper for it), and run setup. After
setup, reinstall the net card (or reenable an on board one) 34 minutes is
the point where the net card goes in. If internal, you may have to leave it
disabled, and buy a cheap one (10 bucks) and run with that.

Ok (tearing my hair out at the roots, btw), the nic is onboard and even with
the despised bi-focals on, I can't find a place on the mainboard to disable
it. It is a Dell Dimension 3000 and try as i may I can't find a schematic on
Dells site for the blasted thing.
Can I buy a vowel?
Thank you for the first response. It's probably exactly what I need if I
could only utilize it.

Ok, support isn't helpful. They wish to charge me about as much as it's going
to cost to replace this unholy piece of technology if I end up fixing it with
my hammer.
I DID find a su-menu in the bios setup that allowed me to turn NIC
controller off. Running set up again...we're down to 37 minutes to go until
installation. Gotta stop typing now so I can cross my fingers. :) (still
smiling...gritting teeth, but still smiling)
Will update you shortly.

Ok, disabling NIC in the bios didn't help so I pulled every card out of the
box except the graphics card and the ones that were onboard and re-tried.
Installed flawlessly. Then I put all the cards back in (yes, at the same
time) and really pressed my luck by installing a second hard disk at the same
time. I rebotted and re-enable NIC in the bios and I'm back on the road again!
Thanks for all your help!
