I have a DSL connection that connects into a Linksys DSL
router and two laptops connected off the router.
Internet connectivity is no problem, but I have worked for
hours and hours trying to troubleshoot why we can't share
files between each other.
Neither machine is able to ping each other. A self-ping
works fine. Both machines are set to acquire IP addresses
automatically.
One is XP Pro and the other is 2000 Pro. On the XP
system, I can see the 2K machine on the network, but get
an error stating the machine is "not accessible" when I
click the icon in the workgroup. BTW, the workgroup is
named HOME and is the same on each machine.
I have searched the Microsoft KB for hours and poured over
docs and am stuck! Thanks for your input.
BTW, I used to have no problem sharing when both machines
were 2K Pro, but when I upgraded one to XP, the file
sharing stopped but the internet sharing was still ok.
