Hi, i keep getting the message when i start up, " Hi speed USB mass storage
device is a high speed device and will function at a reduced speed when
plugged into a non-hi speed port.

this message appears even though i have nothing plugged into any of the USB
ports on the PC.

is there anything that a novice like myself should be doing or not doing
about this please ?

This may have happened because a USB device wasn't properly disconnected.
(Appears you had a USB 2 device such as a MP3 player or card reader plugged
into a USB 1.x port) I know on some Dell systems you can reset the USB
"state" by doing the following - may or may not work on your computer.

Shut down/power off your computer.
Unplug the power cord from the computer.
Push and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
Plug in the power cord and restart your computer.

See if that helps. If no joy, post this issue to a more appropriate group,
such as the "general" group for your version of Windows.
