i recently tried to install windows 2k on my pc it nearly
installed then froze on the part where it installs the
final settings does anyone know what needs to be done
please email asap thanks.

I don't know about this person, but I was trying to do a
clean install over the original Win2000Pro install. It
was at the section where Windows is registering the
components, and it flashed a "DOS" screen very quickly,
showing an "IEreset.exe" then froze.

I was trying to reinstall to get rid of a hijacked IE
homepage. Even though the home page showed
an "about:blank", it was bringing up a search page that
generated a lot of porn pop-ups and new pages. I've tried
everything, from spybot, Ad-aware, Spyblaster, etc, etc,
and I couldn't get this to straighten out. Hence the
reinstall attempt.
