Help with Default Domain Policy

Y

Yaniv Levy

Hi,
Ihave a Strange Problem
I have Domain : 2000 with 1 DC of 2000 server.
The default Domain Policy should be 31B2F340-016D-11D2-
945F-00C04FB984F9. BUT I have a different Uniq ID !!!

Another thing is that the default Domain Policy of
31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9. have no object in
Active directory. Maybe it was deleted.
How I can restore it without restoring it from backup

Thanks

1. Upgrade your Domain to Windows 2003, run the command line tool dcgpofix.

Type in the following from a command prompt to restore Domain only , Domain
Controller only or both at the same time:

DCGPOFIX /domain

or

DCGPOFIX /DC

or

DCGPOFIX /Both

2. Verify there is or is not a 31b policy in the sysvol. if there is try to
"relink" this policy to the Domain object in Active Directory Users and
Computers. If there is no 31b... policy then someone deleted it, call into
Microsoft support and obtain the recreatedefpol VBscript.
