I'll try to be as clear as one can be. My windows 2000 PC was shutdown by pressing the button in the back of the PC. The next day I couldn't see anything on the screen so I had to log into safemode to back up all of my files that I had on my E:\ drive. My E:\ is 19.0gigs. the files that I saved from the E:\ I moved to my D:\ drive which is 200gigs. I had no OS on my D:\ drive it was purely for media/data. I decided to reinstall a fresh copy of windows 2000 pro on my E:\ (as it was originally). I formatted it to NTFS, let the installation go and everything went okay until I had to restart my PC for the updates off of Microsoft.com (sp4 and security updates). I noticed as it rebooted the Windows 2000 Professional screen came up a little smaller. I then saw "chkdsk F:\" where it said that it was correcting over 22 of my avi's and mp3's. I later decided to play a media file when I realized that WMP cannot play it because the file is corrupt. Other media files are completely off; for example, I have an avi file of king arthur from the History channel, when I play it, I hear my French lesson 1 from Rosetta stone !
everytime I reboot my machine the chkdsk F;\ comes up and it asks if I want to proceed. I don't know if its trying to fix the data or if its making things worse on my D: drive.
COULD SOME PLEASE HELP ME ( if its possible to fix the files that are damaged)
