HELP - MSN Sign in Screen starts automatically

I just re-installed Windows XP and my MSN software. Now every time I boot
the system the MSN Sign-In screen comes up. If I close this window, the
screen then reappears after 5 seconds or so.

This problem also appears to be preventing me from doing a windows shutdown.

Any idea what about what process continually brings up this screen? Thanks.
 
It is trying to check your msn mail account. Options has a setting for the
mail check.
