HELP ME PLEASE!

I need help. My computer has McAffe Virus Protection and Firewall. McAffe
won't update even though it says it needs to. System restore will not let me
choose any checkpoints more than two hours old. My Image Viewer doesn't
work. When I go to restart/shut it down, the window doesn't pop up. I know
alot about computers and have spent days trying to figure this one out
because Microsoft won't let me get support without the $35 charge. I don't
know what to do...

Open the task manager, kill task that don't need to be running, and if
worse comes to worse, use the power button - reboot in SAFE MODE
(without network support) and scan for viruses and also check the
registry for HKLM...RUN items and HKLU...RUN and HKCU...RUN for items
that should not be there.
