HDV on Windows Movie Maker (Win XP Pro)

I have a Sony HDR-HC3 HDV video camera and I can import via firewire Standard
Defintion video footage just fine with this camera into Movie Maker (Windows
XP Professional), but not 1080i footage??

I can't import the 1080i using my LG DVD recorder (with firewire) either???

If this is not possible with MM and Windows XP, are there any software
suggestions to get this done?
