Hardware device recognition problem

I have had my PC for a year and yesterday the CDROM stopped working, i looked
at device drivers and i have a yellow exclamation mark by the CDrom driver.
It says...

'Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot
find the hardware device. (Code 41)'

can anyone point me in the right direction as to what i should do?

the CDRom light comes on and still seems to want to function.
