Burners not recognized

I have two burners that stopped being recognized after I uninstalled Nero.
When I use Device Mgr to find the problem or the hardware wizard to install
the drives, I get the following message:
"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot
find the hardware device. (Code 41)"
The burners are SATA as is my hard drive (which is working). BIOS recognizes
them and I can use them to boot but they do not work in XP. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the FixIt tool did not work. I
repaired the OS by using the original disc (not the Repair Console) but that
didn't seem to help. I am stymied.

How long has this been your problem? If it is more than a week and you
are certain your burners were working before you uninstalled Nero, then
clearly you should consider reformatting the HD, reinstall the OS and
start all over again. The fix provided on Microsoft Website doesn't
work in many cases and there is no simple solution to this problem in
Microsoft Operating System.
