Global Address List not showing new names

I am running Exchange Server 2003 with Outlook 2003. I
added a new user a few hours ago but the name doesn't
show up in the global address list. If I take Outlook
out of cached mode, the name shows up. I then put
Outlook back in cached mode and the name disappears. Can
someone tell me why this is happening and how to fix?

This is happening because Outlook 2003 in cached mode uses the Offline
Address Book which downloads updates from the Exchange Server once per day
by default. The Offline Address Book is complied only once per day by
default on the exchange server. Worst case scenario the client will not see
updates for 48 hours.

I understand that but I already manually downloaded the
address book and it still does not show up.
What can I do?

Hi. I have been having exactly the same problem. Manually downloading does
not update the address list. I have this problem on two different servers
with two different clients. Have you found any resolution to this issue yet?

Thanks,

Morne

Someone should go into the Exchange System Manager and rebuild the offline
address book and/or change how often it is generated. After this you can
download the Offline Address Book and the user should see the changes.
