Global Address List

We are running Exchange Server 2003 with clients running
Outlook 2003. I just created a new account about 5 hours
ago and the name doesn't show up in the global address
list when running Outlook in cached mode. If we change
to uncached mode the name shows up. We then changed it
back to cached mode and the name is gone. Can someone
tell me why this is happening and how to fix this?

You need to 2 things.

1) regenerate the offline address book via exchange system manager
2) client workstation needs to download an update to the offline address
book

If you do nothing at this point, it takes approx 24 hours for new users to
show up in cached outlook profiles.

ps - exchange 2003 sets up a default rebuild of the offline address book
every morning at 4 or 5 in the morning (you may wish to configure this
rebuild to happen more often). outlook 2003 downloads the offline address
book once every 24 hours.
