So people should get this for free instead of this for pay?

Hi Torgeir,

Oops--I didn't realize you were working the groups tonight.
I copied your message about the cd and blasted it to all the XP and security
groups I monitor. Credit should go to you for the heads up!

We have inquiries in about that.
Besides, isn't the UK the 52nd state lately? (Canada being the 51st)

How long does it take for MS to send the conformation Email? I requested it
about 20 minutes ago and there's been no mail yet. Thanks.

I got confirmation within a few minutes.
Did you get the confirmation screen right after ordering?

Yes, I did see the confirmation screen. In fact I saved it too-

Hi
The Email address I gave is correct, and it's active - I do get other mails
without problems. The part that's of concern is : "We will send an e-mail
confirmation of your order to you shortly. If you do
not receive any e-mail, refer to the customer service section below."

Where is this "customer service section" they are talking about? By the
way, I stay in India, which is one of the countries listed to be eligible.

I tried it again with another of my E-mail addresses and it worked-I got
confirmation. I did disable the Firewall (ZAP) and my Ad blocking software
(Ad Muncher) this time around though. I wonder if that had anything to do
with it (you never know). Thank you very much for your time.

Your welcome.
The important thing is you got it sorted.
If you get a second CD, you can give the other to a needy friend.

Wow. It really is free. No shipping or handling costs. No credit
card info asked for. Cool...

Microsoft must be bubbling over with extra $$ from all of those
Windows XP sales.

My friend, putting together a computer, just paid $179 for an install
from scratch version, which was even $20 below the normal $199 I see
at a lot of places. (an update is $99). Kind of out-of-whack with
comparative prices in my opinion, because when you think about it, you
could get, when on sale (twice in last 3 months I've seen), a 2.66 GHz
Celeron, with CD and with a 17" monitor and with a printer AND with
Windows XP Home installed (and the back-up CDs that come with it), and
a 1 yr warrantee - for a "whopping" $349. (it was Emachines & HP I
believe -many mail in rebates to fill out on everything, but an hour
of your time and a few stamps, and there you go).

A $200 operating system, a $100 monitor, a $50 printer = a free 2.66
MHz computer. Sure, it's a Celeron, no math-co I'll admit, but what's
to complain about? Still pretty darned fast. I'll wait for the sale
one more time to get it for my son, whose 600 MHz, using Windows
Millennium, is slowly but surely dying. I wish I could find an even
cheaper deal without monitor or printer, but no-can-do. Not even
close when not on sale.

I sure will, Jupiter. I have anyway informed most of my friends via E-mail
about this offer. Thanks for the thought, have a good day.
