Microsoft Offers Free Security Update CD

Well at least its a free disk of all their updates through Oct 2003. There
was a lot of complaints from dial up users who had issues with downloading
multi-megabyte sized files that took hours to get, so MS is offering this
disk to help them out, and they are also covering the cost of shipping as
well. This will also make doing a full re-install a little easier as well
in any
case by offering a quick easy way to get pretty much caught up.

This CD is only available for Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows 2000,
Windows 98, and Windows 98 Second Edition (SE).

The reason it's free is that it will come with some software for you to try.
When you use it make sure you can only install the patches without the trial
software, I know this is what I will do.

I have a test PC all set up, and I'll run it, and see just what it does. I
have a CRC checksum on each and every file, if anything is changed or
modified, I'll know exactly what it does. I'll be sure to post a full
report as soon as my disk arrives.

Yep, There is no such thing as "FREE" in this world, and Bill Gates don't
give nothing away without exacting a price back in some way or form.
