fp2000 publishing problem

Hi,

I`m using FP2000 and Win98se, when I try to publish to my site or to
access it remotely, it continually prompts me for the username/password.
I`ve scanned for and deleted all .web files, and the cmdui.prf file as
per a recent post but still no joy. There does not seem to be a problem
at the server and they can`t understand why the <correct>
username/password is being rejected.
Am I missing something obvious here, any ideas anyone?

TIA

Could you repost and include the original problem and any text you receive in the error.
I cleared the newsgoup yesterday ( over 6000 posts ) so I can't see the original post.

My first question would be what kind of server is the site hosted on.
Next would be does it have FrontPage extensions. If in the past you've published using
http://yourwebname.com and you are now getting the prompt, I would suspect that the extensions are
corrupt and need to be reset by the host.

Also, if it's a server running UNIX, UNIX is CaSe sensitive and will reject UserName if it's
supposed to be username.

Can you post a URL??
