FP2000 not opening properly

I have fp2000 installed on win98se machine that worked
properly until this morning.

It is not opening proberly. It will appear to open but
file/open menu option does not open and eventually the
mouse hangs up and freezes. The only way out is to
control/alt/delete/end task. It is like something more is
trying to open but can't.

I once had a similar problem before and the fix was to
rename cmdui.prf and restart fp2000. That doesn't seem to
work this time. I have tried unnstalling and reinstalling a
couple of times.

Any ideas?
