Folder view problem

I know how to make a folder open in whatever view I wish. I also know how
to apply this view to ALL folders. What I need is a way to make folders
that have nothing in them EXCEPT .jpg files--pictures, that is--to open in
the "thumbnail" view. All others should open in whatever view I previously
closed them. Any folder with even one subfolder should not be opened in
thumbnail view.

I know it's possible to instruct each folder to open in whichever view is
desired, but when you have 4000 folders containing photos it gets burdensome
rather quickly.

A less desirable, but acceptable alternative would be to open all subfolders
under "My Pictures" as Thumbnails, and all folders in "mp3 Files" as List.
Both of these folders are enormous; each one contains about 70GB.

Thank you,

Ok! Try this:

Select your folder which contain all of your pictures. Right-click on the
Folder and Choose Properties. Click Customize tab. Use the "Pictures (best
for many files)" as the Template and make a check mark on "Also apply this
template to all subfolder".
Apply changes. Now this folder and all of its subfolder will have the
thumbnail view.

For Music Files, you can choose "Music" template.

Hope this is what you are looking for, let us know!
