A Folder View problem

I like my folders to open with the same view they were closed with. To
achieve this, I check the box under Folders > View > "Remember each folder's
view settings." This works perfectly---except for ONE folder, which refuses
to stay put when I close it. As luck would have it, this is one of my most
frequently opened folders.

What could I have done wrong? Is there some setting that overrules my
decision for just this one folder? Can you suggest someplace where I can
start looking for this problem?

Thanks,

Try doing a hard close and see if that forces the setting to stick. To do
this open the folder and set the view to what you desire it to be. Hold down
the Shift Key and close the window by clicking the "x" in the upper right
corner. Release the Shift Key.

Nope. However, it DID hold the settings in my Detail view, a not
inconsiderable blessing, since I have an extensive set of values that I like
to see in Detail view. Before this hard close, my Detail view would always
revert to default settings, which were way useless.

Any other ideas? BTW, what is a hard close, and how does it differ from the
usual close?

Thanks for your help. I truly appreciate it.
