Folder opens at Start-up after XP2 installation

Today, I installed XP SP2 update and when I now start-up
the computer, two things occur:
1. The my documents folder opens in the center of the
desktop (I have to close it)
2. My Quick Launch has to be manually opened each time I
start the PC (locking the toolbar at shut-down doesn't
solve the problem).

I have uninstalled and re-installed SP2 but the problems
persist. Unfortunately, as recommended after
uninstallation, I tried a System Restore only to find the
prior dates no longer exist and the only one available
(today before installation) failed to work.

I know these aren't the biggest problems in the world,
but if anyone has an idea, I would love to here it.

P.S. My PC had been running perfectly (no adware,
spyware, or viruses) prior to the up-date.
